Drama and Performing Arts

Welcome to Medina High School's Drama and Performing Arts Department

Our Drama department is a lively and successful department which values students’ progress and achievements on all levels. We set the highest standards for our students and aim to teach them within a safe and comfortable environment. We are extremely proud of all our Drama and Performing Arts work which happens here at Medina. Our students are our greatest asset and we are fortunate to have hard-working, committed students who give freely of their time.

The children at Medina are taught and supported by a small team of dedicated and well-qualified staff.

All students at Medina High School experience both Drama and Dance in Year 9 and this enables them to make sensible, well-informed decisions about their pathways in the GCSE years and through to A Levels.

We have high expectations of our students and run a busy programme of events during the year. Beside our curriculum we put on a Drama performance in late November, a showcase of BTEC/Performing Arts work at least once a year, and small studio productions of Sixth Form performances in May.

As our website area demonstrates we run many courses within this curriculum area, including:

• GCSE Drama –  AQA
• GCSE Dance – AQA
• BTEC Performing Arts in Performance – edexcel
• AS and A2 Performance Studies  - OCR
• Key Stage 3 courses in Drama and Dance

As you will see from our list we run both Vocational and academic courses.
