Welcome to Medina High School

It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Medina High School where our main aim is to create a culture of self-belief, high aspiration and high achievement for every student.  2008 / 09 was another year of innovation and success.

This year saw:

  • The start of the highly regarded International Baccalaureate Diploma at Medina High School, the only centre on the Island to be authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation based in Geneva.
  • Medina High School becoming the first Trust School on the Island (and only the 260th Nationally) and by doing so securing all the advantages of working closely with both business and professional organisations operating at the highest level both nationally and locally.
  • A continuing expansion of the range of choices available to students, including collaborations with the Isle of Wight College, work based learning providers and our partner high schools Carisbrooke and Cowes.
  • Additional Arts awards for a range of events including the Yurt project and our close partnership with the Isle of Wight festival.
  • Sports successes including national championship winners in trampolining.
  • Another year, our sixth-in a row, in which our 5A* - C GCSE pass-rate increased and our three year trend at A Level (as measured by the ALPS organisation) remains the highest of the high schools on the Island at grade 3, which is classified as excellent.

The onset of the long awaited school reorganisation makes Medina High School a really exciting place to come and learn, and we look forward to you enjoying our Open Evening, finding out what we have to offer and why we continue to be the school of choice.
