The Medina College Grammar School Stream

• A purposely designed curricular stream focussing on academic rigour, building on the recognised excellence of previous years.
• Access to Medina’s well renowned and established arts, sports and music facilities, including Medina Maestro.
• Students are supported and cared for through an excellent pastoral and mentoring system.
• A stream that leads to established pathways through preparation for excellence at GCSE and A Level and linking with top Russell Group universities.

The Curriculum
The Medina College Grammar School Stream offers students the opportunity to study a range of subjects. These subjects will not only prove to be academically challenging and prepare them for entry to Russell Group universities but will also stimulate and interest young minds. In Year 7, we offer a range of subjects such as Latin and Philosophy as well as the more traditional curricular areas of study. Students will have their learning supported by a number of school trips that will broaden perspectives.

Entry Requirements
In addition to the normal admissions process through the Local Authority, a Medina College Grammar Stream Expression of Interest form needs to be completed; these are available on the College website or from Reception. We will then send a reference request to the child’s current school. Once SATs results have been released, in early July, offers will be made to students. Prospective Grammar Stream students will then be invited to the College for a 15 minute interview during which they will be asked to talk about an item of their choice and read an extract from a novel.
