    Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award and is available to all current Year 9 students and up. The award equips young people for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. Doing the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements. Students are responsible for completing section of the award independently while the team of leaders made up of Medina staff provide training for the expedition. For more information click here.

Welcome to Medina College

MatthewParrBurnamWelcome to our Learning Community here on the Isle of Wight. The Isle of Wight Eductaion Federation comprises of Carisbrooke College, Medina College and The Island VI Form. We are three distinct learning communities with close links that benefit all of our students. By combining our skills, knowledge and expertise we ensure students get the very best deal possible. Our aim is simple: We want to be the best. The best for students, the best for parents, the best for staff who work here and the best for the Island.

We are increasingly working ever closer so that we learn from each other on a daily basis. We welcome visitors and if you think you want to be part of our unique experience then please just get in contact – you will receive a warm welcome.

Matthew Parr-Burman
Executive Headteacher

At Medina, we are passionate about making a difference to young people’s lives and equipping them for futures in which they can achieve their aspirations. Our ethos is to relentlessly pursue outstanding teaching, learning and pastoral care, whilst maintaining the focus on the needs of the individual student. Our aim and expectation is that every student who is part of our community will achieve their best in all aspects of school life.

We have a talented team of teachers and other professionals who provide students with the best possible opportunities in a wide range of subject areas. We provide a carefully planned curriculum to ensure that whatever your child’s interests or career ambitions, we are able to provide for their needs.

Medina College is very proud of its students. The College Student Council and prefect teams have key roles in driving forward innovative change. There is an extensive extra-curricular programme which provides incredible learning opportunities outside the classroom.

We have very strong links with our partner primary schools and we encourage both Year 6 and Year 5 students to join us for special events throughout the year.

Outstanding education is only achieved by working in close partnership with parents and carers. We want you to play a full and active role in school life, supporting your child and working with us to ensure success. We welcome collaboration and feedback about what we do well and where we could improve. Together we can ensure each student leaves us as an educated, articulate, young adult prepared to embrace the world and the challenges ahead.

I look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure the very best for your children.

Karen Begley
Executive Deputy and Head of Medina College
