    Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award and is available to all current Year 9 students and up. The award equips young people for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. Doing the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements. Students are responsible for completing section of the award independently while the team of leaders made up of Medina staff provide training for the expedition. For more information click here.

Welcome to Medina College

Welcome to Medina College. We have a talented team of teachers and other professionals who provide students with the best possible opportunities in a wide range of subject areas. We provide a carefully planned curriculum to ensure that whatever your child’s interests or career ambitions, we are able to provide for their needs.

As you may be aware, I have been Executive Headteacher for the Isle of Wight Education Federation which comprises Carisbrooke College, Medina College and The Island VI Form since January 2018. I have also been Head of School at our sister school, Carisbrooke College for the last couple of years. As of 1st June this year, we have taken the decision to lead a fresh approach to school improvement, build on the foundations that have been laid at both schools and use the personal experiences that we have as leaders to have an impact on those areas that still need improvement. Therefore, I am now Head of School at Medina College as well as continuing my role as Executive Headteacher. Between The Isle of Wight Education Federation and my previous two schools, I have over 12 years of headship experience and 20 years of leadership experience.

Working with the other schools in our Federation our aim is simple – to be the best. Young people get one chance at growing up and we need to make this experience an amazing one for them. As a parent myself [three children who have long since flown our nest!] I really understand what makes a great experience and young people will get that here.

Please come and look around – you will always receive a warm welcome.

Matthew Parr-Burman
Executive Headteacher and Head of Medina College
