Pupil Premium

Disadvantaged strategy plan

Our strategic Aim (Intent): To close the attainment gap between our disadvantaged students and "other" students nationally.

Nationally the Pupil Premium Grant provides funding for students:

•who have been in receipt of free school meals (FSM) at any point in the past 6 years (£935 per child)
•who have been continuously looked after for the past six months (£1900 per child)
•who are adopted from care under the Adoption and Children Act 2002 or who have left care under a Special Guardianship or Residence Order (£1,900)

All schools are held accountable for the spending of these monies. Performance tables are used to capture the achievement of disadvantaged students covered by the Pupil Premium.

Medina College is committed to providing effective resources and ensuring vital support is in place for our all disadvantaged students to improve their academic outcomes. Our key objective in utilising the Pupil Premium Grant is to close the attainment and progress gap between our disadvantaged and national figures for non-disadvantaged students.  We will release the National statistics on disadvantaged performance once DFE performance tables are published for 2019/2020.

This year we have opted to develop a 3 year disadvantaged plan to be able to take a longer view of what support we will use the pupil premium grant to provide and annual reviews will continue to form the school’s pupil premium statement.

When writing this document we looked closely at recommendations from the Key, the Sutton Trust and previously successful strategies from our own federation school.  This plan is a key part of the IWEF’s wider school improvement plan (FIP)
