Head of School’s Blog – 19 July 2024
It is lovely to see some hot weather at last and for it to feel like summer. We now have one week to go until we break up for the holidays. Please remember, we are in school till the end of the day on Friday 26 July. For those of you with students in Year 11, a gentle reminder that GCSE results day is on Thursday 22 August. Information for parents and students about the collection of results can be found on our website here.
In regards to Year 11, it is very exciting that we have their Prom tonight at Newclose Cricket Ground and it will be a lovely send off for them as they depart to their post 16 choices.
This week we saw another two trips take place. On Wednesday we had a group of students travel to Southampton to watch Six at the Mayflower and have a technical demo and Q&A with the performers (read a full report here) and yesterday we had Year 8 and Year 9 travel to Legoland for their reward trip (report to follow next week!). I believe that both trips were an amazing success.
At the moment we are having a drive on collecting any second hand uniform that you may have so we can ensure it is reused. If you do have any ties, blazers, trousers, skirts, shirts or PE kits at home, could you please bring it into reception; we would very much appreciate it.
Next week, Mrs Croke will be writing to you all in regards to expectations for September and to fully introduce herself. As part of this, she will also be hosting assemblies for students next week.
Return to school dates for the new academic year have been set and the term will start in September with two staff development days. Years 7 and 11 only will then return on Wednesday 4 September and all year groups are to be back in school on Thursday 5 September.
Finally, can I finish off by congratulating the Year 10 DT students who took part in the The i-Construct event that was supported by the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), held at Fareham College. The team came away with the most inclusive presentation award. Well done to them, we are very proud of you all. You can read a full report on this here.
Have a lovely weekend.
