Head of School's Blog - 8 November 2024
It has been lovely to have students back with us this week; engaging in their learning and bringing school to life. I would like to say how good uniform has been and how well turned out students have looked.
This term is an important half term for Year 11 with their Trial Examinations which are due to start shortly. Please ensure they are attending the revision clubs on offer to maximise their success. I know over half term many of them made use of the additional opportunities we offered. Thank you to the staff who gave up their time to run these.
On Thursday 14 November we have our VI Form Open Evening between 5-8 pm at The Island VI Form, so please make the most of this opportunity to come and have a look around and find out what is on offer.
On Tuesday, Year 7 were lucky enough to have a presentation on road safety from The Riot Act. I really hope that they found this a productive and informative session. On that note, with these dark evenings, can I please ask you to remind students the importance of crossing roads safely - preferably at zebra crossings or traffic light crossings. On top of this, it is important to consider and be respectful of our neighbours and ensure we do not disturb them when leaving the school site.
Monday 11 November is Armistice Day and we will be marking the occasion with a whole school Act of Remembrance. Poppies will be available for a donation on Monday morning so please send students to school with some change if they would like to purchase a poppy.
Finally, I would like to congratulate our Hot Chocolate Friday winners, who achieved their place either for 100% attendance in the last week or were top achievement points winners. Well done to: Imogen, Matthew, Marli, Scarlet, Harry, Travis, Kelsey, James, Charlie and Jake.
Have a lovely and safe weekend.
