Weekly Updates from the Leadership Team

We held a trial results day for our Year 11 students yesterday. This is a really important event as it replicates what will happen in the summer and how the students might feel. The difference is, there is still time to make a difference now. We need all students to take appropriate messages from these results. If their results are good and what they were hoping for, reach for even more! If they were not where they were hoping for, then now is the time to look at why and make necessary changes. Please ask them to talk to subject teachers about what went well and where improvements can be made,

We welcomed IW Youth For Christ this week to lead assemblies on Advent. We were very grateful for the message they shared. Following this, we are collecting food for the food bank, to help those who need it, especially at this time of year. If you would like to donate, then please do send items in with your child.

You will have received two letters from us this morning regarding hoodies and phones, and end of term arrangements. Please do take some time to read them. Additionally, this week we have also sent an email regarding Christmas lunch on Wednesday 10 December. This will be a lovely festive event in the canteen with Christmas music and crackers. Please sign your child up if they would like to be part of this.

On Tuesday, our Year 10 and 11 students were treated to a private theatre production of A Christmas Carol – which is one of their exam texts. It was a fantastic way to be able to interpret the story rather than just being through the written text.

Next week we will have Year 10 Parents' Evening, so if you have not yet signed up for this, please do. It is a vital meeting for you to be able to understand where your child is in their learning.

We will be writing to you next week about other activities and opportunities which are taking place during December.

Have a lovely weekend.

On Wednesday, our incredible Sports Leaders were at it again, this time representing Medina as judges at the Newport Area Primary Schools' Sports Hall Athletics competition. This was the first of many primary school events that we host and provide support for.

Our Sports Leaders from 3 different year groups, including Year 7, made us proud throughout the event, with outstanding feedback from the organisers. Our Leaders' work with the younger students was great to watch.

Well done to Seth, Dylan, Theo, Evie, Brooke, Isabelle, Jaiden, Naomi, Demi, Zoe and Amelie.

Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival

Medina College’s kindness-themed Christmas tree is now proudly on display at Isle of Wight Pearl as part of the Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival. The tree is decorated with handmade wooden discs, taking on the theme of kindness and sustainability.

Well done to Arthur, Bradley, Chloe and Bubbles who set up and decorated the tree for us. The trees will be on display throughout December, but the festival runs from Thursday 4 - Sunday 7 December, and is well worth a visit.
