Welcome to our first parent and carer update of the new half-term.
It has been a pleasure to welcome students back this week, including our new Year 7 students, for their first official day at Medina. The school has felt calm, welcoming and purposeful.
Over the past two days, we have held assemblies with every year group to revisit our expectations and explain what is new for the year ahead. Our school rules remain Ready, Respectful and Safe, underpinned by our values of Ambition, Courage, Confidence and Kindness. These values shape everything we do, and we will continue to support students in putting them into practice through everyday choices and actions.
A great deal of work has taken place over the summer to ensure that the school environment feels fresh and ready for the new term. Students have been reminded that showing respect means respecting others, themselves and the environment we all share.
In line with the Government’s expectation that schools should be mobile phone-free, we introduced our updated approach this week. We have been proud of how positively students have responded. Please continue to support us by reinforcing the importance of following the new policy.
Next Thursday, Year 7 students will take part in an exciting team-building day at PGL Little Canada in Wootton. We know that many are already looking forward to it, and it promises to be an enjoyable and valuable part of their transition to Medina.
Over the coming weeks, we will share further information about school opportunities, events and key processes.
