Weekly Updates from the Headteacher

I would like to start this week by acknowledging all of our students who were recipients of an award at our annual Awards Ceremony this week. It was an immensely proud and humbling moment to see so many of our students being recognised for the outstanding way that they engage with their learning, go that extra mile or overcome personal challenges. They were the embodiment of everything that makes Medina College a great learning community. I would also like to say well done to all of our students who get it right every day, day in, day out. It is always difficult to select award winners when we have so many students who are deserving of recognition.

This week we have had a large group of our Year 10 students engaging in work experience placements. These are valuable experiences and help students start to make informed decisions about possible future pathways. Thank you also to every employer who has taken the time to agree to support our young people and welcomed them in, ensuring their safety and wellbeing too. Many of our staff visited students on their placements and they have commented how the students are enjoying their placements and are getting a rich experience. Keep an eye on our social media channels next week for information and photos of the students' experiences.

Next week sees our end of year reward trips. We are looking forward to the students enjoying an out of school activity at either Tapnell Farm, Paultons Park, Out of Bounds or Thorpe Park.

Next Thursday sees our first whole school Sports Day. I am thoroughly looking forward to the whole school either taking part or watching next Thursday afternoon.

A reminder that Friday 25th July is the last day of summer term, students will be leaving the site at 12.35 pm.

I will be writing to you next week with some reminders and information about the start of term in September.

Have a lovely weekend.
