I would like to begin by saying how wonderful it was to welcome our prospective Year 6 into Year 7 students, along with their parents and carers, to Medina College on Tuesday evening. It was a real privilege to show them what #WeAreMedina truly means.
I had the pleasure of leading an interactive session in the Theatre, where students could win prizes by remembering key numbers linked to facts about our college. Following this, five of our fantastic students from Years 8 and 11 spoke to the audience about their experiences of school life. Their confidence and eloquence in public speaking were truly admirable, and I felt proud to share the stage with them.
Across the school, visitors were able to take part in a wide range of curriculum activities, with particular favourites being the parkour and trampoline demonstrations in the Sports Hall. Well done to everyone who completed their subject sticker passports! A special thank you also goes to our School Pastors for their support throughout the evening.
Looking ahead, I would like to remind our older students to save the date: Thursday 13 November is our Open Evening at The Island VI Form.
This week, our Year 7 students also enjoyed a fantastic team-building day. Thank you to Mr Winsor and his team for creating such an exciting, interactive programme where students had the opportunity to collaborate and live out our value of 'Together'.
Year 11 parents and carers will shortly receive a letter regarding the upcoming trial exams after half term. It is essential that Year 11 students make the most of every opportunity and begin developing strong study habits now.
Finally, I want to praise our students for their mature and sensible response to this week’s lockdown practice. They were a credit to themselves and to our whole learning community.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.
