We reach the end of the penultimate week of this half-term.
Thank you to all parents/carers who have supported us this half-term, whether that be with echoing our messages about expectations and routine or in-person events.
We have had some exciting events this week, enriching our students in many ways.
We have had two authors come in and talk to our Year 7 and Year 10 students as part of the Isle of Wight Literary Festival - so a huge thank you to Anthony McGowan, who has written highly acclaimed and award-winning fiction and non-fiction for adults, teenagers and younger children, including 'Lark' which won the Carnegie in 2020, and The Right Honourable Stuart Lawrence who is a consultant, youth engagement specialist, coach and public speaker. He is also the younger brother of Stephen Lawrence, the British teenager murdered in a racially motivated attack in 1993.
In addition, we were so fortunate to be able to have some private performances by The Band and Bugles of The Rifles. They were truly inspiring and demonstrated to the students the challenges of marching on the spot for long periods of time!
Today we were delighted to support the charity Young Minds for World Mental Health Day with #HelloYellow and our yellow non-uniform day, and also Mountbatten Isle of Wight by having a doughnut sale. More details will follow about this fundraising next week.
What an enriching week!
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
