16th January 2026

Weekly Updates from the Leadership Team

We would like to start by thanking all of our Year 11 parents/carers who attended the Year 11 Revision Evening on Wednesday. From the feedback we have received, we are pleased that students and parents/carers found it useful and informative. Please keep an eye on our Year 11 website page - this will be updated regularly with valuable information. Although exams may seem a while away, the time will disappear quickly, so please do encourage your child to take advantage of every opportunity to enhance their chances of success.

On Wednesday, 28th January, we are looking forward to inviting Year 9 parents/carers in for Parents' Evening. This will be an important opportunity to discuss which subjects are being successful ahead of the Options process, which we will launch later this half term.

Dr Clarkson has led assemblies based on the topic of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). This is always important as it highlights the breadth of future pathways and opportunities for our young people which they may not initially consider otherwise.

Last week we touched upon the use of mobile phones in school. We will be writing to you more formally at the start of next week about this topic, so please do look out for a letter from us.

Next week, our secondary school community will be exploring the theme of courage. Courage is not only a character trait we admire, but also a skill that can be learned and strengthened over time. It involves facing challenges, speaking up, trying again after setbacks, and making positive choices even when things feel difficult. Courage is closely linked to resilience, as it helps students recover from challenges, grow through experiences, and develop confidence in themselves and their abilities. These are such important skills in the world today.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Year 11 Revision Support Evening

It was fantastic to see students and families engaging with the subject staff following the presentation in the Theatre covering expectations, advice, logistics and tips on how to prepare confidently for upcoming exams. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event – we hope the information shared helps make revision and exam preparation more focused, manageable, and effective. Best of luck to all our Year 11 students as they continue their exam preparation! Please keep an eye on our Year 11 website page – this will be updated regularly with valuable information.

If you were unable to attend the evening, please do take a look at the information contained in the presentation. If you did attend, we would very much appreciate your feedback on the evening. Please could you complete this google form which should only take a couple of minutes.

Kindness Token Draw

Congratulations to Lucas, Kayden, Isabelle, Lyla and Ellie - the latest winners in our Kindness Tokens draw! They have each won a £5 Love2Shop voucher.

At Medina College, one of our core values is kindness, and we regularly recognise small acts of kindness in daily school life. This can include holding doors open, using good manners, and being considerate to others. Students receive a token for their kindness and are entered into our next draw.

Well done to everyone who was entered — your acts of kindness are noticed and appreciated by us all. Let’s keep spreading positivity and succeeding through kindness!

Peripatetic Music Lessons

We have some additional availability from our peripatetic instrumental teachers. If you are interested in learning an instrument, please get in touch with Mr Winsor as soon as possible to book a space. We can currently offer Piano, Vocals, Guitar, Bass and Drum lessons. If you are interested in any other instruments, please see Mr Winsor as we may be able to help.
