Welcome to the first newsletter of this final half-term of the academic year.
We would like to start by celebrating 'Boundless Wight', our VI Form Young Enterprise team students who attended the National final in Cardiff this week. Whilst unfortunately not winning, they did achieve the Pursuit of Opportunity Award. 1,000 teams started the competition and 13 made it to the final. This is such an achievement. Well done to all the students and staff involved.
Our Year 11 students have just finished their final week in school, with just under two weeks of exams to go. They have been a credit to themselves in their exams. Please remind them that they have not yet finished, and they still need to focus on those final exams ahead to ensure they have given themselves the best possible future opportunities. We look forward to seeing them at their Year 11 leavers assembly on Monday morning (8 June).
This week we have led assemblies about our school rule of 'Safe', which is part of Ready, Respect, Safe. We have taken time to explain why we have certain rules, why we have certain expectations, and why the language we choose to use and the behaviours that we demonstrate are so important. Respect – which is a continued key focus, and Kindness - one of our continual focus school values – create a safe environment. We are also working on building blocks and reminding students that if we look at an area one week, we don't put it to the side next week, we keep building on it.
As the Isle of Wight Festival approaches, please make sure that you are aware of the traffic adjustments – details can be found here. We will be leading assemblies on Festival Safety over the next week too.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing all the students on Monday morning.
