Welcome to the final newsletter of this academic year.
We enjoyed a fantastic Sports Day yesterday, which culminated in the whole school coming together on the field, either taking part in events or supporting and encouraging others from the sidelines. It was a wonderful example of our school community at its best, with students demonstrating confidence through participation, courage by taking on challenges, ambition in striving to achieve their best, and kindness in the support they showed one another.
We have a lot to celebrate from the past nine months, as well as areas that we will continue to develop during the next academic year. You will have received a letter from us this morning which included a selection of highlights showing our school values in action. Please take the time to look through these and to read the accompanying letter, as it also contains important information and reminders for the new term.
Our students and staff who are currently taking part in our exciting educational visit to Mozambique are all doing well. The students have been outstanding and have worked incredibly hard. The Community Work Coordinator commented that, as a group of six students, they have completed more work than groups twice their size. Our staff have spoken with great pride about their attitude, commitment and conduct. They are demonstrating ambition, courage, confidence and kindness in a completely different environment, and we look forward to hearing much more about their experiences. Their trip will feature in the first newsletter of the new academic year.
As the academic year comes to an end, we see our Year 11 and Year 13 students moving on to their next steps, our Year 9 students preparing to begin the next stage of their exam journey, and our new Year 6 students getting ready to join us in September. We also say farewell to colleagues who are moving on to their own next chapters, while preparing to welcome new members of staff as they begin their journey with us.
Change can sometimes feel challenging, but it can also bring new opportunities, fresh ideas and renewed ambition. As we look ahead, we will continue to build a school community in which every student is valued and every voice matters. We want our students to have the courage to try, the confidence to contribute, the ambition to aim high and the kindness to support others along the way.
Thank you to all of our students for their hard work and contribution throughout the year, and to our staff for their continued commitment and care. We would also like to thank our parents and carers for their ongoing support, particularly during a year that has included a great deal of change.
We hope that everyone has a safe, restful and enjoyable summer break. We look forward to welcoming students back in September and beginning the next chapter of Medina College together.
