Summerfields Year 3 Enjoy a Taste of French Easter Fun with Mrs Brear

On Monday 23 March, Medina French Teacher, Hannah Brear, visited Summerfields Primary School in Newport, to spread some french Easter-time joy with former Medina French assistante, Clara Busseuil to work with Ms Bridle's Year 3 French class.
This was the fourth collaboration between the MFL staff at both schools in recent years.
The children learnt lots of new Easter-related vocabulary as well as learning about how French Easter traditions work and all the ways that French children celebrate Easter. The children were surprised to discover that instead of the Easter Bunny, it's the flying church bells that drop the chocolate eggs into children's gardens in France, as they make their way back from Rome, having been blessed by the Pope!
The Year 3 children played lots of fun, interactive games and even learnt an Easter song in French with actions, too!
Mrs Brear was very impressed with what the children achieved and can't wait to teach them when they come to Medina in a few years' time.
"The Year 3 students at Summerfields were so enthusiastic about learning French and it was a real joy to help Ms Bridle plant a few more language-learning seeds and see all the children engaging so positively when learning about different cultures. Knowing that students will go to secondary school with an open mind about languages due to the positive experiences they've had with MFL at Primary school is so important."
Clara, on a flying visit from Paris, was overwhelmed at the quality of the students' work, their willingness to participate and the wonderful accents they were already developing! Mrs Brear can't wait to go back later in the summer term. Joyeuses Pâques à tous !
