Bugsy Malone: A Show to Remember at Medina College

Medina College delivered a highly entertaining and energetic performance of Bugsy Malone on Thursday 11 December, showcasing an impressive level of talent, confidence, and teamwork. From the opening moments, the cast drew the audience into the fast-paced, comic world of 1920s gangsters, full of humour, charm, and classic splurge-gun chaos.
Tyler gave a fantastic portrayal of Bugsy Malone, capturing the character’s confidence, wit, and underlying vulnerability with ease. His strong stage presence anchored the production and kept the story moving at a lively pace. Avalon’s Blousey Brown was both feisty and soft, striking a lovely balance between determination and warmth, and bringing genuine heart to the show.
Dean’s portrayal of Fat Sam was a standout comedic highlight, with excellent timing and expressive character work that drew consistent laughs from the audience. Latia impressed as Tallulah, delivering a performance that was both graceful and fiery; she commanded the stage with confidence and flair whenever she appeared.
Chey and Katie’s comedic portrayal of Smolsky and O’Dreary added another layer of humour, with strong chemistry and playful delivery that made their scenes especially enjoyable. Erynn and Dominic also deserve special mention for perfectly portraying several characters throughout the production. Their versatility, quick character changes, and consistent energy added depth and professionalism to the show, helping each scene feel full and dynamic.
The ensemble worked cohesively, supporting the principal cast with enthusiasm, particularly in the musical numbers, which were lively and well-rehearsed. Choreography was sharp and engaging, and vocals were confident across the cast.
Technical elements further enhanced the production, with creative simple set design, effective lighting, and well-considered costumes that captured the spirit of the era.
