Active Travel Campaign Presentation

We are delighted to celebrate our fantastic team of Active Travel Ambassadors – Evelyne, Johnny, Oliver, Tahlia, Violet, Orla-Rose and Emily-May who have won this year’s Active Travel competition. The students worked hard over recent weeks to promote safer, healthier and more sustainable ways of travelling to school.
As part of the final competition event, held at Medina Theatre on 30 April, the students delivered an impressive presentation in front of a panel of respected judges including the Isle of Wight High Sheriff, the Managing Director of Southern Vectis and the Director of Modeshift. They confidently shared their ideas in promoting active and sustainable travel and answered on the spot questions with confidence. Their creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm shone throughout, and they represented our school brilliantly.
The students' campaign is to promote cycling to school for both students and staff. The judges decided that their campaign was well researched and delivered and awarded them first place and £500 towards delivering their campaign in school.
The next step will be for the students to meet with Mrs Mursell and Mrs Sandiford to discuss and plan how the grant money will be spent to further support active travel within our school community.
A huge thank you and congratulations to all the students involved for their fantastic effort and enthusiasm. We would also like to give special thanks to Mrs O’Callaghan, Miss Long and Mrs Rogers for stepping in to support the students with this wonderful opportunity.
