Summer Examinations 2026

Here is the timetable for the Summer 2026 Examinations:

Timetable - Summer Exams 2026

Students should watch the short video below from The Exams Office. The video, called Information for Candidates 2025-2026, explains the rules during exams. An Ofqual Student Guide for 2026 can also be found below.

Candidates also need to familiarise themselves with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) documents below.

General Exams Information

Timetables
Students will receive their exam timetable at least one week before the first timetabled exam.

Where a candidate has more than one exam scheduled for the same date and time, one exam will be rearranged to an earlier or later start time, with a sufficient break in between. Candidates must remain under centre supervision between the exams.  The rearranged times will be displayed on the timetable and will be discussed in advance.

Exam entries and timetables will and must be in the student's legal name.

Exams
GCSE exams start at 9.00am and 1.15pm (trial exam start times may vary).  Detailed exam information will be delivered during assemblies throughout the year. Students should make every effort to be on time and present for all exams. If you are running late, it is vital you contact the school as soon as possible. Very late arrivals will need to be reported to the exam board and there is a possibility they may not accept the exam script.

Absence and Illness
If absent from an exam due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, this will be reviewed on a case by case basis and next steps will be discussed at the time. Supporting evidence such as a doctor's note will be required.

Items not allowed in the exam room

  • Electronic devices (mobile phones, smart-watches, smart-glasses, mp3 players, tablets, earphones or earbuds), even if switched off.
  • Food – this includes sweets, mints etc. (unless identified prior as an access arrangement)
  • Watches of any kind
  • Notes
  • Coloured writing pens

You are not permitted to have any items on your person other than the equipment needed for that exam. Any items that are not listed above (hairbrush, lip balm, glasses cases, timetables etc.) must be left in your bag or handed to an invigilator. If you are found to be in possession of any items that are not permitted during an exam (whether you intend to use it or not) the exam board will be informed. This could result in disqualification from your exam or the overall qualification.

Stationery must be in a clear pencil case. If you are sitting an exam that requires a calculator, one will be provided for you.
